Titanium Plating

[Home]

We've been working hard to develop a new environmentally friendly technology for titanium plating. It can be used to plate titanium with many metals including platinum, palladium, rhodium, gold, silver, cobalt, tin, nickel, copper, and others.

One of the difficulties with plating titanium is that it is difficult to "activate". Traditional methods use high concentrations of nitric acid, hydrofluoric acid, hydrochloric acid, and hydrogen peroxide. Our new proprietary process makes it very simple to remove the oxide layer present on titanium and replace it with a new coating that has excellent adhesion properties. Electroplating of the titanium creates a strong bond that won't chip or flake.

Advantages of our new process include:

  • Non-acidic or hazardous
  • Does not require any special equipment
  • Inexpensive
  • Excellent adhesion properties

We are further working on developing a process to make it easier to plate other difficult metals, including:

  • Zirconium
  • Hafnium
  • Niobium
  • Tantalum
  • Tungsten
  • Molybdenum
  • Aluminum
